Final Post

Well as we bid the year 2009 farewell I would like to say that it was an exciting year. There were a lot of things that I learned and overcame this year. I hope that the new year brings many great and wonderful new things for everyone. I hope that in 2010 I can use the skills that I have learned and create the great websites, movies, videos etc... that we've been working on. Tata and farewell to all. Happy Holidays!!!

Colleague's Websites

I really enjoyed looking at Lorna Jordan's website. I think that she used some great images and techniques in her project. The way that she put together the whole website made it interesting and appealing to the eye. Her literacy page is very informative and I like the set-up of the page. I also really like liked Lyndsey's page. I enjoyed her funny and goofy pictures on the website. It seems like she was able to figure out how to edit the pictures and came up with some great shots. I think her picture for her bio was very inviting and made me want to learn more about her. I found Denys' page to be very entertaining. One thing is the spelling mistakes he had on them and all the fruits. Was that intentional? Not so sure. Aside from that he found a beautiful picture of a landscape and had some terrific effects on them. I like the swirling effect almost like the mountain range was going down a toilet. I found it very entertaining. Well these are my three picks. Enjoy

Music Page

So I had already begun to create the music page and thought that everything was going great until i hit my link and nothing comes up. This is the frustration I have with typing these codes. The most difficult part is figuring out what I did wrong. I have pieced typed up my technical description, have the image I want on the page, the player is embedded but for some reason the page is not all together. What to do? How do I figure it out? If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. I do like the contrast between the background and the picture tho. At least something came up out of the work. Well i continue on in this process of trying to catch up with technology.

Movie Assignment

The movie assignment was the only thing that I was able to figure out easily. I think it may have been because I am more familiar with the Imovie program than with any of the other that we have come across in class. It was also an enjoyable experience. From the selection of the pictures to writing the notes and choosing the transitions between every slide. I felt like I was watching all my work come together. There were some problems I came across like...How do I make the letters scroll slower in the film. In some instances the letters scrolled up so fast that I could barely read them. I had to play around a bit but was finally able to slow them down just a bit. Also I wish I had more ability to control the music. That may simply be due to the lack of experience with creating the movies. Overall I really enjoyed making the movie and felt proud of the work after I was done.

Discovering HTML

So I have been re-reading all of the course documents to gain a better understanding of using these codes. I personally find it difficult to understand without the guidance of an experienced individual. The writing of the codes is can be extremely tedious because if you forget any of the letters or attributes it will not work. It is amazing though when you do get it right to see how it transfers from a code to the page. Another thing that I find difficult is uploading everything into folders and files. It is extremely organized and structured but Jedit gives me some trouble. After one becomes used to the code writing and adding all the attributes this can become very exciting. To be able to create your page from scratch and identifying the different techniques on other web pages is a useful ability.

Nyu Blackboard

Well this is the first time that I have ever used blackboard in college. My first college didn't have a system like this. I think that it is a great idea. It makes it easy for us to look up and submit assignments. The system overall takes a little getting used to especially if you aren't up to date with all of the technological advances. The ability to post resources, the syllabus, and links is great. Overall I think that it is a pretty good system that helps you keep in touch with everything at your finger tips. I don't know how many colleges use the blackboard system but I think it a great tool for educators and students alike.
Well I have done some experimenting with the different browsers and different pc's. I've realized that if I use safari versus a microsoft explorer it actually distorts the color of my page. Professor Chianen had told us to test these different browsers out to look for any distortions. Also I realize that me Safari program seems to run a bit faster than the internet explorer browser does. This is pretty interesting to me and something I don't think that I would otherwise have noticed.
